A historic market in the Old City, founded in the 15th century by King Muhammad Rumfa as a trading centre on the trans-Saharan routes. Today it sells crafts, textiles, leather goods, pottery and everyday goods. The lanes are narrow and busy, so a local guide helps. The UK FCDO currently advises against all but essential travel to Kano State, so check current travel advisories before you go.
