Bonny Island
📍 Bonny, Rivers
Historic island kingdom about 40 km southwest of Port Harcourt at the Atlantic coast, a trading hub since the 15th century and home to the Nigeria LNG plant. Visitors come for the Finima beaches, the Finima Nature Park and traditional chieftaincy houses. Ferries from Port Harcourt are the main way in, and there is also an airstrip. The UK FCDO currently advises against all travel to riverine areas of Rivers State, which includes Bonny, so check current travel advisories before you go.
