Makoko is a large waterfront settlement built on stilts over the Lagos Lagoon, often described as the world's largest floating village. Guided tours take visitors through its waterways by canoe while a guide explains the community's history, fishing livelihoods and daily life. Visit with an organised guided tour rather than on your own, and ask before photographing residents.
